What’s New for 2016

In 2015, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology put forward plans on accelerating construction of new generation National Information Infrastructure. The cross-border combination and deep application between all sectors in nowadays economic society and new information communication technologies like Internet has become core content of a global new technology and industrial revolution. The informationization of rail transport is an essential part of National Information Infrastructure, as the only industrial event in Asia Pacific focusing on rail wireless network construction and metro/high speed rail Wi-Fi development, Transport Wireless Rail aims to build a “connected” international platform between China and the globe, rail transport and wireless network communication industries. To put forward the coverage of metro and high speed railway and the construction of greater transport mobile internet ecosystem.

Why China

The total operating length of national railway lines will break through 120 thousand kilometers, among which over 19 thousand km is high speed rail, ranking world first. National railway passenger traffic has reached 2.1 billion, 7 million daily. China Railway will begin international bidding for high speed rail Wi-Fi projects, the total China railway Wi-Fi market value will surpass 10 billion RMB.

101 metro lines in 25 China cities are on operation by the end of 2015, the daily passenger traffic of Beijing and Shanghai has reached 10 million level. Now Shenzhen, Chongqing, Kunming Metros have launched Wi-Fi service; Shanghai and Changsha are under testing; Guangzhou, Beijing , Ningbo, Wuhan, Guangfo, etc. have planned and signed contracts on partial lines with third party contractors.

Why Chongqing

Chongqing Rail Transit is the first urban rail transit system in western China. Now 5 lines are under operation, with a total length of 202 km and 117 stations. There are another 5 main and extension lines are under construction and will be completed by 2020. Chongqing has planned 18 metro lines totally and is also one of the very first cities begin building and operating Wi-Fi ecosystem network.
